Asset Care Technician
Position Summary
As a key member of a multi-disciplined engineering support team, providing a high degree of competence in fault diagnosis, maintenance and capital projects. Using industry best practice, identifying technical issues and appropriate solutions to continually enhance engineering standards to sustain plant performance, meet KPIs and optimise resources to meet business objectives.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
· Carry out practical analysis of plant problems through trials/testing, gathering data, checking sequences of events etc. and recommend appropriate solutions
· Participate in reliability teams to find solutions for re-occurring events/failures using techniques such as equipment availability and trend analysis
· Produce Standard Maintenance Procedure documentation
· Prepare scopes and estimates for maintenance and capital project work to include detailed specifications and management systems documentation, such as Method Statements
· Produce detailed engineering work plans with cost management & critical path considerations
· Involvement in Condition Monitoring activities and associated prioritisation of work
· Understand and adhere to plant engineering standards and Key Performance Indicators
· Develop effective inventory control documentation and co-ordinate maintenance to ensure right equipment and people are available at right time and place
· Undertake lifecycle costing activity to identify future maintenance strategy to resolve root cause problems and improve reliability
· Undertake safety audits, risk assessments and apply broad knowledge of HSE legislation
· Establish and implement procedures for statutory inspections and testing of electrical appliances and installations, including HV
· Deputise for Infrastructure Co-ordinator, with particular responsibility around electrical/electronic equipment and installations
Key Skills and Abilities
· 3 years experience in an electrical and instrumentation plant maintenance/installation role
· Apprentice trained to ONC/HNC standard as a minimum or have a relevant engineering degree/HND in an E&I discipline
· Ideally knowledge and experience of PLC controlled equipment (Rockwell) and SCADA
· Knowledge of HV distribution systems and relay testing equipment highly desirable
· A broad awareness of engineering standards, legislation and regulations is essential
· Good computer skills, including working knowledge of MS office software and ideally some experience of CMMS
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive working relationships with contractors and across process and asset care teams
· A high level of safety and environmental awareness, including risk assessment and method statements
· Excellent problem-solving skills with experience of implementing diagnostic techniques (such as Root Cause Analysis) and fault finding on various types of electrical and electronic systems
· Effective time and resource planning skills
