Contract Manufacturing Operations Specialist

Our client is a US based publicly held biopharmaceutical company with established product revenues in the world’s main markets and a development pipeline of late-stage products. The company is strategically focused on high potential markets with significant unmet therapeutic needs in very specific disease areas. The Contract Manufacturing Director will liase with contract manufacturing sites and ensures the optimal co-ordination of development programs at these sites. This position will provide on-site consultation representing our client’s interests and priorities and provide project management support for ongoing programs. Key tasks will be to:

· Monitor and facilitate pre- and post launch production related activities to ensure project plan and production schedule priorities are met
· be the liaison between the contract manufacturers in Europe and the client in the US
· oversee daily activities and co-ordinate timely resolution to problems at the contractor’s site
· participate in bi-company project teams formed to co-ordinate and manage organisational and functional changes targeted toward improvements in quality systems and compliance
· identifying critical path events and contributing to effective solutions to meet project goals in timely manner

Graduate qualified, candidates will have significant experience of medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing (preferably inhalation devices) including the co-ordination of contract manufacturers, a detailed knowledge of Quality systems (QA, QC), and of FDA/MDA requirements. You will need to be well versed in Manufacturing Operations/Systems including materials management; supply chain, product costing/variances, and demand pull continuous flow lines.

Personal attributes will include excellent written and verbal communication skills; good negotiating and people skills and well-developed project management skills. You will need to be able to travel regularly in the UK and occasionally to the US.

This would be an excellent role for an experienced manager who would like to break free from the constraints of a large blue chip pharmaceuticals company or who would like to further develop their career in devices with a player of the future.
